NMN vs NR: Which NAD+ Supplement Is Better?
A short human comparison found similar increases in circulating NAD+ with NMN and NR. It did not establish that either supplement extends human life or is the better choice for a particular person. The prior version of this article favored NMN’s bioavailability without supporting evidence; that ranking has been removed. Read the direct comparison.
What the Human Comparison Shows
A 2026 randomized, open-label, placebo-controlled study compared NAD+ precursors over 14 days. Its analysis included 65 healthy participants. NR and NMN comparably increased circulating NAD+. This is a short-term biomarker finding, not proof of better energy, weight loss, disease prevention, or longer life. Several authors were affiliated with Nestlé. Christen and colleagues, Nature Metabolism.
